Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Warburton has confirmed that Geoff Cameron has suffered an injury, which was the reason for his skipper's absence last night against Brentford.

Warburton watched his side fail to build on a midweek win over Rotherham United last night, losing out in the West London derby to Brentford as the Bees climbed to fourth in the Championship table ahead of this afternoon's fixtures.

Cameron was a notable absentee from the QPR side, with the R's skipper missing only one fixture prior to last night's trip to Brentford.

In wake of watching his side fall to defeat against the Bees, Warburton confirmed why Cameron wasn't featuring in his midfield.

“Geoff was injured – again fatigue," Warburton revealed, as quoted by West London Sport.

“Every team’s facing the same problem, with players picking up soft-tissue injuries through fatigue through being asked to play so many games.”

Vitaly Janelt put Brentford into a 14th minute lead last night, with Warburton's side responding midway through the first-half thanks to Lyndon Dykes.

However, Ivan Toney struck the game's winning goal, continuing his hot-streak to deny QPR anything from the game.

QPR remain 13th in the Championship table, but with fixtures to come this afternoon, they could slide.

The Verdict

The schedule is a little bit ridiculous at the moment and Warburton is quite fair by saying it's the same for all teams at the moment.

It's the nature of the 2020/21 season, but it won't mean that Cameron's setback is any easier to take.

The only other game he's missed this season was a defeat to Barnsley and the R's have lost again without him in the side. That underlines his importance and Warburton will hope he's back available before long.
