Coventry City moved to within three points of the League One play-off places on Tuesday night with an encouraging team performance, earning them a 2-1 win over Fleetwood Town.

The Sky Blues are enjoying life back in the third tier and it can be considered a good season for Mark Robins' side following their promotion from League Two last season via the play-offs.

The off-field issues surrounding the club have not affected the players' performances on the pitch and they will now be looking to build on their momentum with another win against fellow play-off hopefuls Peterborough United at the weekend.

One player who particularly impressed against the Cod Army was 19-year-old defender Morgan Williams, who was making his league debut for the Sky Blues, replacing the injured Jordan Willis at centre-back.

Williams had only made three appearances for the Coventry first-team all season, with all of those coming in the Checkatrade Trophy and they were a few doubts over how the teenager would cope in League One.

However, his brilliant performance at the Ricoh Arena has got everyone praising him and Coventry fans have every right to be excited about this promising young talent.

The youngster is a big, strong, no-nonsense defender and proved himself to be more than a match for the experienced striker Ched Evans, who is normally always a handful to defend against.

He received a standing ovation from the home crowd when he was substituted at the Ricoh Arena and his manager had plenty of positive things to say about his performance on Tuesday night, as reported by the Coventry Telegraph.

Of course, there is no need to get carried away after just one game, but if Morgan's display against Fleetwood is anything to go by, the youngster could have a big future ahead of him and Coventry could have a real player on their hands.

With another big game this weekend, Robins should reward the player for his performance by starting him against the Posh on Saturday.
