Coventry City manager Mark Robins has admitted that the club have already identified targets for the upcoming transfer window and are in discussion with a number of players.

The Sky Blues opted against bolstering their squad in January in terms of making permanent signings as they instead embarked on a tremendous run of form which resulted in them climbing the League One standings.

Currently top of the third-tier, Coventry boast a five-point lead over their nearest rivals Rotherham United and thus ought to be confident of securing promotion to the Championship when the season eventually resumes.

By maintaining their consistency during the final 10 games of the campaign, the Sky Blues will have a fantastic chance of achieving this aforementioned goal.

Given that Coventry play an attractive brand of football, there is no reason why they cannot persuade players to make the move to the club in the summer despite the fact that they have yet to agree a deal to return to the Ricoh Arena following a year at St Andrew's.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph about the latest update concerning the club's plans for recruitment, Robins said: "That's something that is ongoing.

"I speak to Chris Badlan (head of recruitment) on a daily basis.

"Primarily we have identified all the people we want to bring in in the summer and we are just getting on with those plans, moving forward.

"The wheels have been in motion for months.

"We have spoken in depth about things and Chris and Stuart Benthom (recruitment analyst) are continuing to work.

"They are obviously not going out to games but there's plenty of work to be getting on with.

"There are targets there.

"Some have been spoken to and some haven't.

"Some are out of contract and some aren't, so clearly we can't speak to those who aren't."

The Verdict

This is unquestionably exciting news for Coventry fans as it seems as if Robins has already drawn out plans for the summer in terms of who wants to bring to the club.

Providing that the Sky Blues do indeed seal promotion later this year, they could bolster what is already a talented squad by drafting in a number of solid additions.

Whilst Coventry will be under no illusion in terms of the challenges that they will face in the Championship if they do get over the winning line, there is no reason why they cannot establish themselves at this particular level.

By getting his recruitment spot-on during the upcoming transfer window, Robins could end up building a team who are capable of thriving at a higher level.
