Coventry City grabbed a late winner against Blackpool to move up to second in League One this weekend, but manager Mark Robins has been forced to issue injury updates after the win, as reported by Coventry Live.

The Sky Blues fought back from being 2-0 down courtesy of Sullay Kaikai's brace to going in level at the break. Matt Godden and Wesley Jobello both scoring in a mad five minutes just before half time to restore parity.

Despite seeing four goals in the first half, the match had to wait until injury time in the second for the next strike; Aston Villa loanee Callum O'Hare grabbing the winner for the home side.

They snatched the win without captain Liam Kelly and after the game, Robins updated supporters on Kelly's current condition.

“He’s picked up an ankle injury that is going to rule him out for a while – anything between three, four, five, six weeks, although he has taken his protective boot off now," said the former Scunthorpe boss.

“Hopefully he will be back quicker than that but we had to do something, hence the decision to bring in Walsh who is just an outstanding footballer who gets you on the ball and moving."

Defender Michael Rose is another worry for Robins, he picked up a knock against the Seasiders and is a doubt for the next fixture.

“We have just got to wait and see the extent of his groin injury. He didn’t feel it go pop, just said it felt tight so I will keep my fingers crossed that it’s nothing too bad."

Coventry are level on points with Wycombe at the top of the table, but sit second courtesy of goal difference.

The Verdict

Robins is operating on a relatively small squad when compared to some of his rivals, so he'll be hoping to move through the injury situation as quickly as possible.

Liam Kelly is certainly a loss, but they coped just fine at the weekend, edging past a flaky Blackpool side. Simon Grayson clearly has an abundance of ability going forward, but they're conceding too many goals right now.

Coventry are shipping their fair share, but they're making up for it by picking up crucial points and wins as they strike for a Championship return.
