Mark Robins has confirmed that Coventry City duo Callum O’Hare and Liam Kelly will be making their return to the first team squad for this weekend’s clash against Stoke City.

The Sky Blues are coming off the back of an electric win over promotion chasing Sheffield United on Wednesday night.

A 1-0 win courtesy of a Martyn Waghorn penalty has lifted the club off the bottom of the Championship table.

But the returns of O’Hare and Kelly will be even more welcome news given their importance to the squad.

Neither player has yet to feature for the team this season having suffered a set of hamstring injuries during the summer.

The Coventry manager expressed his delight at the potential of the pair returning to the squad in the coming days.

“It’s brilliant that,” said Robins, via Coventry Live.

“Happy days!”

“They have both got a chance of being involved now.

“They’re not injured so they’ll be available.”

This comes off the back of Ben Sheaf earning a one-game suspension for his accumulation of yellow cards, ruling him out of the game against the Potters.

Wednesday’s match winner Waghorn may also not be available for selection, with Robins warning the club will need to investigate the extent of the injury that saw him go down some time following his penalty.

The Verdict

Losing Sheaf and, potentially, Waghorn will be a blow for Coventry but the return of O’Hare and Kelly will more than make up for it.

O’Hare in particular has been a crucial figure on the pitch for the Sky Blues, and is one of the team’s most important players.

Having Kelly back will also be big, with the club captain being a key figure in the squad.

Wednesday’s result will see the mood at Coventry take a bright turn following a difficult start to the season.
