Mark Hudson has admitted that he definitly wants to become the manager of Huddersfield Town at some point in the future.

The 37-year-old is currently in caretaker charge at the John Smith's Stadium - after the club sacked head coach Jan Siewert last week - and is one of the favourites to take the job on a permanent basis.

Hudson was speaking to the media at his press conference ahead of the Championship clash at Cardiff City on Wednesday night and revealed that he would like to manage Huddersfield at some point in his career.

The former Huddersfield captain admitted to the club's official media that he is looking forward to putting his own stamp on the team while in caretaker charge.

Huddersfield are currently without a win this season and have lost two of their opening three matches in the Championship.

Siewert took charge at the John Smith's Stadium in January after the club parted company with David Wagner, but he was unable to save the team from relegation from the Premier League and left with a record of just one win from his 19 matches in charge.

Hudson, who became a first-team coach at Huddersfield after he finished his playing career two years ago, is in his second spell as caretaker manager at the John Smith's Stadium.

The Verdict

It was probably the right decision for Huddersfield to sack Siewert, despite the fact that we're only a few games into the season.

Hudson is a good coach and is somebody who already knows the club well, so he should be able to get the best out of the Huddersfield players.

He could be a good short-term appointment for the Terriers, but I don't think he's experienced enough to manage in the Championship on a full-time basis yet.

He certainly doesn't seem afraid to make changes though and it'll be interesting to see how he gets on in his second spell as caretaker boss.
