Mark Bowen has stated that his side's resilience was a big positive during Reading's 2-2 draw with QPR.

The Royals twice came from behind to claim a point at the R's and it meant that Bowen continued his impressive unbeaten start as manager.

Reading sacked Jose Gomes after they lost five Championship games in six fixtures, but since then they've beaten Preston and drawn at QPR which are both excellent results considering the start to the season both opponents have had.

Bowen praised his side's want to improve and he feels lucky to be manager of Reading.

Speaking to Reading's official club website, Bowen said: "I sense a resilience in this group of players. They are a group who are desperate to do well for this club and these fans.

"They want to work hard, they want to improve, they want to be successful for this football club. And if you've got those ingredients, then as a coach you're lucky. And I consider myself very lucky."

The Verdict

It's been a really good start to life as manager for Bowen and he's gone about his business in a very interesting way. He's made slight tweaks to the Royals side that have seemed to work expertly and he can now push on after laying the foundations for the team.

There are a lot of positives to take, he brought back in Sam Baldock who scored on his first start of the season, and George Puscas got back on the goal trail having failed to score since August. This confidence within the players is massive and will help them in future fixtures.

Reading take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday, in what will be another tough game for Bowen's side but one they won't shy away from.
