Reading manager Mark Bowen has stated that he can't see himself doing much business in January due to the strength of the current squad.

Bowen has seen himself remain unbeaten as Royals boss since he took over, having picked up 10 points from the 12 available to him.

There's renewed hope around Berkshire that the Royals may well go on and have a successful season after seeing the progress that Reading have made in such a small amount of time under new boss Bowen.

Reading had endured a tough start to the campaign as Jose Gomes won just twice in the opening 11 matches of the season, and that record saw him sacked just months after he had kept the Royals in the Championship.

Bowen has opened up on whether there'll be any future transfer business in January, admitting it's probably quite unlikely.

Speaking to Berkshire Live about future business in January, Bowen said: "Maybe I should be thinking more about it.

"But I look at the squad and things can change but I can't see too many weaknesses in the squad."

The Verdict

January seems to come around very quickly every year, and it's only November at the moment so there's still a couple of months to go until the window opens. It's always a hectic time, and players can sign for clubs that make all the difference in their season.

Reading will probably have their eye on a couple of players that could improve the team, but won't want to buy anybody that won't improve their squad. If they're up in the top-half, they might want to spend money on someone that gives them more quality, but they're team seems settled at the moment.

Bowen has done a great job so far since he's taken over, and it'll be interesting to see if he might potentially want any player sold from the club.
