Bristol City CEO Mark Ashton has stated that the Robins will be promoted in the future.

They've had a good start to the season so far and will be determined to see it through and earn a top six place giving them the opportunity of getting to the Premier League.

Lee Johnson has been at the helm alongside Ashton and together they have been proactive in improving the club on and off the field and making them one of the most competitive sides in the Championship.

Ashton has expressed that it's all about progression, and one day that will see this Robins side promoted to the top division.

Speaking to Bristol Live, Ashton said: "Each season that we’ve been here, and I say I but it’s really we, because Lee was here maybe 14 or 15 days after me, and it’s the staff that surrounds us, it’s been about progression. I've used my model in slightly different ways, but it’s a similar core at every club and is based on progression.

"If we keep progressing the way we are, ultimately we’ll be promoted, but I can’t tell you when."

The Verdict

They've been a very good side in this division for a couple of years now, but they haven't quite had that smartness about them to get into the top six.

The Robins have often had trouble with their home form, but that seems to be on the up, and they thumped Huddersfield 5-2 on Saturday - a brilliant result.

They now need to carry it on, and this progression that Ashton talks about is evident for all to see, but they have to keep going and believe that this year could be their year.
