We can almost imagine the controversy just that headline will create. Not him, not back in the UK, not with our club!

Fulham have to be bold this summer and they'll be looking to capture the very best players for the very best rates.

Thanks to Jean-Mark Bosman back in 1995, they're going to be able to pick through a long list of names that come free of the burdens of a transfer fee.

The recruitment will depend very much on which division they're competing in next season and we're going to work on the assumption that their promotion bid is successful.

After all, just one point separates them and Cardiff, with Birmingham and Sunderland up in the last two matches. Automatic is very much a possibility and would be a deserved reward for some wonderful form since December.

So, without further ado, let's look at the players out of contract this summer that FLW think Fulham could do well to sign, starting with the most controversial of all.

Whatever anyone says about Mario Balotelli, he is a good centre forward. He's controversial, he's enigmatic and at times, he's a lost cause, but he does attract crowds and there's a reason he keeps getting deals with teams.

He's bagged 22 goals in 34 outings for Nice this season and with age comes maturity. There's unfinished business on these shores for the Italian and Fulham might just be able to benefit from his expertise.

We promise to be a bit more grounded with our next five choices. Luke Shaw is out of contract at Manchester United and, with Ryan Sessegnon likely to move one, Fulham will be in the market for a left back.

Shaw hasn't been loved at Old Trafford, but there is a quality footballer in there under the right conditions. He's perhaps been overawed by the bright lights and high demands of Manchester, but a switch to Craven Cottage could be just the tonic for him.

At 22-years old he's got lots of time to develop and if he does, he could well be England quality once more.

If Tom Cairney moves on, Fulham may need that midfield enforcer, the player who tackles and creates in the centre of the park. What better way to celebrate selling a player for millions than by bringing in a high-quality replacement free of charge.

Cabaye is high-quality and he's out of contract at Palace this season. At 32-years old he's not too old either and has plenty to offer the aspiring top flight side. The beauty of Cabaye is he would be equally as effective and likely to sign if Fulham do not get promoted.

If they didn't land Cabaye, but still needed a central midfielder, why not McArthur? He's only 30-years old and would fit in nicely with the style of play adopted by Jokanovic's side.

Palace haven't been brilliant in the top flight this season, but they're clear of the drop which means the likes of McArthur have been doing something right.

Domenico Criscito is another left back that might just fit the bill if Ryan Sessegnon moves on. He's currently with Lazio but his contract expires this summer and as yet, he's got nowhere lined up.

This one would depend on Premier League promotion, but why would the Zenit defender not want a stab at English football? He would be a like for like swap with the departing 17-year old, but brings a wealth of experience and attacking nous with him.

They look set to lose their own right back, so why not grab Yiadom from Barnsley. After all, the Tykes look set for the drop and Yiadom has been attracting much interest.

He's got the attributes to step up, almost certainly. He would be a fit in either division and he's a Londoner too, meaning he'd settle quickly. Seems like a sensible move to us.
