Ipswich owner Marcus Evans has revealed that an entertaining style is required from the next manager the club bring in.

The Tractor Boys currently find themselves in 14th place with two games remaining and a chance of finishing in the top half of the table.

However, their league position belies the issues at the club this season with Mick McCarthy leaving after falling out with the fans.

The relationship with the Ipswich fans had gradually deteriorated as they got sick of an uninspiring style of play which produced results at the expense of entertainment.

Marcus Evans has made it clear that he listened to fans' concerns in a recent interview with the Ipswich official site. Here's what he had to say about the selection process for the new manager: "We want to be progressive, we want to look for a manager that embraces the best of old and new."

"I'm gonna be looking for a manager to coach and develop a team capable of playing football from the back where possible."

"Entertainment's got to be high on the agenda for the new manager, but they have to have a plan B and a plan C if necessary."

The Verdict

Evans delivered the right kind of message in this interview because he showed his knowledge of the club down to day-to-day issues as well as making it clear how much he cares about the club's fortunes.

The club is in good hands because he has a good understanding of the needs of the team as well as a clear plan for the team in the long-term. These are exciting times for the fans because the right manager could take them to the next level and this interview should help to ease their concerns.
