Leeds United's run in the top six of the Sky Bet Championship continued this weekend as they beat Brentford 1-0 at Elland Road.

It's another result that continues to confirm the Whites' intention to get promotion come the end of the season, and yet more evidence that Garry Monk is building a quality Leeds side capable of getting results.

It was a scrappy, quiet affair at Elland Road but very much a game Leeds deserved to win.

And they did so thanks to a last-minute winner from Kyle Bartley, who headed home in the 89th minute to give his side another fantastic win.

For Brentford, they now sit 14th in the division, which very much reflects how on and off they've been at times this campaign.

But all eyes are on Leeds, who show no signs of slowing up despite a hectic Christmas schedule.

And following the victory, FootballLeagueWorld writer Hayden Atkins identifies THREE things we learned as Leeds beat Brentford 1-0 on Saturday afternoon...

Leeds need to take their chances

With Chris Wood ruled out through injury for this one, Souleyman Doukara came into the first-team and had a fantastic opportunity to give his side the lead, but he could only drag wide.

Luke Ayling had a decent chance to score as well but it's clear if Leeds want to continue their fantastic run in form, they really need to put their chances away.

It may come back to haunt them one day.

Chris Wood is a massive part of this Leeds side

Leeds United have been very good this season and despite some criticism early on, striker Wood has turned into a real target man for the Whites as the season has progressed.

He's scored 14 goals so far this season but was ruled out of this one with a hamstring injury.

The sooner Leeds can get him back and fit again, the better.

Doukara did a decent job leading the line for 80 minutes or so, but it's 25-year-old Wood who really gives the Whites their attacking edge.

Leeds are good enough to control games

Whilst it was a slightly scrappy affair, it's clear that this Leeds side have enough in the tank to now control games, even if they're lacking a slight attacking edge.

Kalvin Phillips is turning into a really good player in the middle-of-the-park and, with Liam Bridcutt coming back to full fitness, Leeds are looking strong in midfield.

They very much controlled the game throughout and didn't look like losing control at any point whatsoever.

Good signs indeed down at Elland Road.
