Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that Leeds United have missed almost 250 chances this season in the Sky Bet Championship, with the Argentine frustrated by his side’s lack of efficiency in the final third.

Leeds were left to rue missed chances last time out when they faced Sheffield United, with the Blades winning 1-0 at Elland Road despite Bielsa’s side bossing possession and creating a number of opportunities.

Chris Basham’s goal remained the only shot on target in the 90 minutes, though, with Leeds left frustrated by their lack of cutting edge.

And, it is something Bielsa has again touched on in the build up to this weekend’s meeting with Millwall.

“We are the second team in the league who have scored more goals and we have created double the chances of anyone else in the league,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"We have missed nearly 250 chances on goal. The teams at the top score one of three chances. The teams at the bottom score one in five.

"The offensive play of the team is the best thing the team has. If we improve efficiency and more luck we could have 10 points more, but it is just the analysis."

An attacking boost is on the horizon for Leeds, though, with Bielsa also revealing to the YEP that Kemar Roofe will be fit to return to the fold when Leeds travel to Birmingham on April 6.

Roofe, 26, has missed Leeds’ last six fixtures, but the 14-goal forward looks like he will be able to play some part in the final seven games of the season.

The Verdict

It has been Leeds’ problem all season, they create a bucket of chances but just don’t find the back of the net with enough of them.

Roofe and Patrick Bamford missing parts of the season hasn’t helped, but even when they’ve been fit, Leeds have been guilty of missing chances.

Addressing that in the next eight games could be the difference in the promotion race.
