Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that three of his key players will rest during the international break as they look to fully overcome injury problems.

Speaking after the Whites lost their first game of the season at home to Swansea City, Bielsa said that the trio of Kalvin Phillips, Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw will work on recovery during the two week break.

Phillips and Forshaw have been instrumental cogs in the middle of the park for Leeds while Dallas has once again stepped in when needed across a variety of positions for his team.

Leeds had been looking well on their way to recording another win yesterday when they dominated the ball at Elland Road, only to see Wayne Routledge pop up with a late winner for the Swans to send them top of the Championship table.

Bielsa will be well aware that he needs the likes Phillips in particular fit and firing, with the midfielder being integral to the entire system in which Bielsa deploys for Leeds.

Forshaw and Dallas meanwhile will remain big pieces of the jigsaw over the course of the season and Bielsa will be keen to see the former Brentford duo back to 100% as soon as possible.

The Verdict

Bielsa isn't stupid and will know exactly what his players need and when during the season.

Losing key players early on can have massive repurcussions so it's only right that he allows his players the rest and time they need at this stage of the season.

Phillips is too important to lose as well, so any sign of injury for him is one which needs to be handled with care.
