Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has admitted he's still unsure as to whether Pontus Jansson will be involved against Blackburn on Saturday with his partner due to give birth.

The Argentinian boss has previously stated that family comes first and the Sweden international will miss the game if he has to.

Whether it does is still unclear, as this was talked about before the international break too with Jansson's partner heavily pregnant.

So, it appears as though the Whites will just wait and see what happens but Bielsa will be desperate to have the influential defender on the pitch at Ewood Park.

The 27-year-old has looked back to his impressive best in recent weeks and he put in a commanding performance against Brentford last time out that was topped off by scoring the late equaliser.

However, if Jansson does miss out, Leeds have been boosted by the news that Gaetano Berardi is back fit and available and he would likely be the one to step in.

Yet, with first-choice full-backs Luke Ayling and Barry Douglas also missing, Berardi had been expected to play at full-back this weekend.

The Verdict

Obviously, the football will have to take a back seat for Jansson and Bielsa clearly respects that.

However, he will be hoping that the birth doesn't impact the player for Saturday as he is a crucial part of this team.

Ultimately, they will monitor the situation from now until the game and it could be a late decision regarding Jansson's involvement, but there are options available if he misses out.
