Leeds United will welcome back the versatile Stuart Dallas to the squad when they host struggling Bolton this weekend.

The Northern Ireland international hasn't played since the win over Sheffield United, which came at the start of December.

He has been missed too, with the ex-Brentford man a very useful member of Marcelo Bielsa's squad because he can play various different roles.

Therefore, there was good news for the Whites as the manager revealed to journalist Phil Hay that the 27-year-old will be involved in the matchday squad against Phil Parkinson's men.

Given the extensive lay-off he's had, Dallas is sure to start on the bench but he will provide Bielsa with an experienced option if needed.

As well as that, defender Gaetano Berardi, who can play across the back four, is stepping up his comeback with more games for the U23s.

The Swiss international hasn't played since mid-October but will hope to provide the manager with another defensive option in the coming weeks as he gets more minutes under his belt for Carlos Corberan's side.

The Verdict

This is very good news for Leeds and Bielsa as when you have a small squad, players like Dallas can be invaluable.

He's proven his worth to the team already this season and he will have a big role to play in the coming months as the games come thick and fast.

Berardi is similar in the sense that he is versatile too and you want to have all your senior players available given Leeds' position.
