Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that Tyler Roberts will step in for Pablo Hernandez if the classy Spaniard isn't available for Friday night's game against Derby County.

The Whites incredible injury curse may have struck again, with the manager telling the club's media that the attacking midfielder is a doubt and won't be risked.

Given how important the former Swansea man is to the team, this would obviously be a massive blow for Leeds.

However, Bielsa has already thought about who will replace the 33-year-old, revealing to BBC Sport journalist Adam Pope that Tyler Roberts will play as the number ten.

As well as that, the Argentinian discussed the differences between the duo when they occupy that role:

"Roberts will play (no 10) if Hernandez does not. Against QPR he had three chances to score which is very good for a number 10.

"But he didn’t build the offensive play which could have helped the attacks. Pablo builds the attacks whilst Roberts focuses on finishing the attacks."

Should the young Wales international get the nod, it will be his first start in the Championship since mid-October.

The Verdict

Losing Hernandez would be a major blow as he has been arguably the player of the season in the league in this campaign and his goals and assists return backs that up.

Therefore, whilst Roberts is a talented youngster, it would be a significant setback for the Yorkshire side in what is a massive game.

With Hernandez a doubt, Leeds may regret letting Samuel Saiz go without bringing in a replacement.
