Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that the club have spied on every Championship side they faced this season.

The Argentinian called a press conference today to discuss the incident after it was revealed he is under investigation from the EFL following his comments prior to the Derby game.

The clash against the Rams last Friday was dominated by talk of 'Spygate' after a Whites employee was caught outside the Derby training ground.

And, Bielsa told BBC journalist Adam Pope they have done the same before every game:

"I’m going to make it easier for the Football League. I’ll assume my behaviour is from the extreme position. We’ve watched all the opponents before we played them. My goal is to make the investigation easier for them."

Whilst his honesty has to be appreciated, it may not help Bielsa as the EFL continue to look into the matter.

They released a statement explaining how this 'appears to contravene the club's charter', which all clubs in the Football League agreed to at the start of the season.

The Whites are back in action this weekend as they face a trip to Stoke City.

The Verdict

Once it came out about Leeds sending someone to watch Derby train, common sense suggested it wouldn't be the first time they've done it.

Clearly, Bielsa feels this is normal behaviour in other countries so he had no reason to stop sending staff.

However, this is sure to mean the talk surrounding this incident continues as now every manager in the Championship will be asked about these comments, so it's not going to go away any time soon.
