The footballing world would have been hugely concerned to see Jack Clarke being taken to hospital during Leeds' draw with Middlesbrough at the weekend.

It is unclear as to what caused the winger to be hospitalised and Clarke isn't expected to feature in Leeds' game against Swansea on Wednesday.

Marcelo Bielsa issued an update on Clarke's progress, and admitted he felt relieved with the outcome of the incident.

"He’s under observation. We’re doing some more exams to see what happened and we all feel relieved," Bielsa was quoted by Leeds Live.

Clarke has been impressive in a breakthrough season with the Whites and will be a big miss for Bielsa's side ahead of a crucial set of fixtures.

He has been restricted to just four starts for Leeds this season, and can feel hard done by, with recent performances from the likes of Jack Harrison not catching the eye.

The upcoming games could decide which direction Leeds' season heads in, and it's sure to make or break their season.

Clarke will be hoping to play a part in Leeds' promotion push, and will be looking to return to action as swiftly as possible once he has recovered.

The Verdict:

This is an encouraging update.

Watching the game live, it didn't look good at all for Clarke.

But Bielsa's comments will be pleasing to hear and hopefully we'll see him back in action as soon as possible.

Clarke has really impressed me this season, and he can play a significant role in Leeds' title ambitions this season.
