Leeds United are closing in on the sensational appointment of Marcelo Bielsa as the club's new manager, with the Whites in 'advanced talks' with the Argentinian.

The former Athletic Bilbao coach is one of the most renowned in the world due to the intense way he gets his teams playing, with Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino and Diego Simeone just a selection of coaches to praise the influence of Bielsa.

Given that, it would clearly be a major coup for Leeds to attract the 62-year-old to the Championship and it could be the beginning of something really exciting at the club.

However, as our graphic shows, despite his profile and reputation in the game, Bielsa has had a mixed time of it in recent years.

His record at Lille, his last job, will be particularly worrying, with the former Argentina coach only winning five of his 19 games and failing to get his ideas across to the team.

As well as that, his incredible two-day stint at Lazio shows Bielsa is very unpredictable.

Yet, prior to that he did well with Marseille and produced a fantastic team at Bilbao that reached the Europa League final, which included a stunning defeat of Manchester United.

Ultimately, Bielsa's demanding style means you get the feeling this could go really well or very badly. But, if it does go well it could be the best style of football and way of playing that the Whites supporters have seen in years.

Therefore, landing the experienced manager would be a major statement for Leeds and a risk that is worth taking for a club that has done nothing of note for far too long now.
