Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has given his thoughts on last night's dramatic Champions League action, reports Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post

The match saw Tottenham Hotspur, managed by Bielsa's ex-player Mauricio Pochettino, overturn a 3-0 aggregate scoreline away to Ajax to progress to the final.

"We were all full of emotion after the game last night," he told his pre-match press conference.

"I can imagine what he felt as a head coach. The game was a party of football.

"I saw Pochettino trying to control his emotion so as not to offend the opponent. He didn't want his celebration to be an offence. I'm thankful for what he said about me."

Leeds head to Pride Park to face Derby County in the first-leg of their hotly anticipated Championship play-off semi-final.

There is no love lost between the two sides following the Spygate saga that engulfed the build up to their January clash, a topic that continues to rear its head.

It is the Whites who head into the match with the better head-to-head record having already beaten the Rams 2-0 and 4-0 this season, however, Frank Lampard boasts the in form team having lost just once in their 12 previous matches.

The verdict

This is just yet another example of the massive effect that Bielsa has had on international football.

I have no doubt that Pochettino would not be half the coach he is today had he not had the guidance of his compatriot during his career.

It would be great to finally see Bielsa get some more glory for himself, however.
