Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that midfielder Adam Forshaw should be back in the squad to face Charlton Athletic this weekend.

The 27-year-old was a regular for the Whites in the early stages of the season, but picked up a minor hip injury in the aftermath of their 1-0 defeat to Swansea City at Elland Road last month.

Youngster Jamie Shackleton has since come in and replaced Forshaw, starting alongside Mateusz Klich in midfield against both Barnsley and Derby County last time out.

But speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic this weekend, Bielsa has revealed that Forshaw should be back in the matchday squad as he recovers from a brief spell on the sidelines.

Leeds will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 1-1 draw with Derby County last weekend - Chris Martin scoring a stoppage-time equaliser for the Rams, after a Jayden Bogle own goal initially put Leeds ahead.

Bielsa's side still sit at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table, level on points with Swansea after eight league outings.

The Verdict

It is undoubtedly a big boost to have Forshaw back for the trip to The Valley, as matches are starting to come thick and fast for the Whites at this stage of the season.

He started the season off really well after struggling to feature too regularly last season, but it would also be harsh to drop Shackleton after two impressive displays.

It's a big selection headache for Bielsa, and a choice that he needs to consider carefully.
