Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has fronted up following his side's loss to Birmingham City, admitting he made an error in regards to the position of midfielder Matheusz Klich.

Speaking to Phil Hay in his post match press conference, Bielsa admitted he got it wrong tactically with Klich, as the Polish midfielder was deployed in the middle on his own with Kalvin Phillips sitting deeper, something which left Klich somewhat exposed in the middle.

Klich's strength this season has been getting up to support the attack in the a box to box role, leaving the likes of Phillips in the middle to do the so called dirty work and pick up the scraps.

However, today that was not to be, as Garry Monk's Blues side harried and rushed the Whites into mistakes on the ball, and seemingly targeted Klich throughout his spell in the middle.

Bielsa's admission comes as no surprise though, given the Leeds gaffer's general honesty about situations throughout the season.

The Verdict

This was a strange one from Bielsa but at least he comes out and take things on the chin rather than passing the buck.

He's a breath of fresh air really, and along with Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, seems to call the game as he sees it.

Leeds will be hoping he's learnt his lesson though and that this defeat does not prove all too costly come the end of the month.
