Marc Albrighton has opened up on what he feels he can bring to West Brom following his January move to the club.

Albrighton had fallen down the pecking order at Leicester City, leading to a loan move for the remainder of the campaign.

But the experienced winger believes that the leadership qualities that he has can provide something invaluable to Carlos Corberan’s side as they look to chase promotion to the Premier League.

Albrighton was part of Leicester’s Premier League and FA Cup winning sides of recent years, which he feels puts him in a position to bring something to the squad as one of the more experienced members of Albion’s team.

The 33-year old believes it will take a bit of time to get used to Corberan’s style of play, but that he feels he can still have an impact on the pitch too even if he is only set to be part of the club for a short-time.

"At Leicester we had a young squad as well," said Albrighton, via Birmingham Live.

“I'm not a loud leader I would say, I'm not going to come in balling and shouting or anything like that.

"I use my experience out on the pitch. I like to lead by example out there, I work hard in training and I like to set levels in training with my performances and hard work.

“That's the main thing that I could pass on.

"The manager's got a certain way of doing things and a certain way he wants his teams to play, which I will have to learn in time like the lads have since he's come in, but in terms of mentality and professionalism, not that it's lacking here, it's certainly not from my first impressions - but that's one of my strengths that I can pass on."

West Brom earned a 1-0 win over Coventry City on Friday night, which proved to be Albrighton’s first appearance for his new club.

The result moved the Baggies to 6th in the Championship table.

The Verdict

Albrighton made a solid debut, managing a total of 73 minutes in the side in his first start.

He is an experienced player that has seen and done it all at the top level, so will have plenty to bring to the squad.

But even at 33, he still has the talent to play at a high standard in the Championship.

This could prove a very shrewd short-term signing and his initial debut shows that there’s plenty of potential in what he can bring to the team.
