Garry Monk has been appointed the new manager of Birmingham City.

The Welshman is taking over from Steve Cotterill who was relieved of his duties after the club suffered their fifth straight league defeat against Nottingham Forest.

The Blues sit perilously in 22nd spot in the Sky Bet Championship table, and Monk has a big task on his hands to help the Midlands side avoid the drop to League One.

Monk has of course previously been the manager of Leeds United and Middlesbrough, with both spells not going as well as he would of hoped.

Arguably, Monk's time in charge of Leeds was relatively strong and he was perhaps unlucky to be given the axe at Elland Road.

One of the main players for Monk during his tenure at Leeds United was defender Kyle Bartley, who Monk signed on loan from Premier League side Swansea.

Bartley and Pontus Jansson formed a solid partnership at the back for the Whites, and the on-loan Swansea man's displays made him a favourite at Elland Road.

It got us thinking, could Garry Monk look to snap up the Swansea City player in the summer, considering he isn't getting in Carlos Carvalhal's team week in, week out.

We asked Leeds fans on Twitter if they expect Monk to make a move for the 26-year-old...

Interestingly, 62% of Leeds fans feel that Monk will look to secure a move for Bartley in the summer for his new club, whilst 38% weren't so sure.
