Mansfield won 4-1

It was a day for the Stags' front men as Alex Fisher, opening his account for the club, Ollie Palmer and Matt Rhead all found the back of the Terriers' net.

An unnamed trialist got the fourth for the League Two team.

Player and assistant manager Adam Murray, told the clubs official website of his joy at how quickly the team had moulded together.

“It’s the first time we’ve put the lads into a game situation and we wanted to make sure we carried on the work-ethic and the fitness side of things that we’ve been working on in the previous days."
Murray then went on to explain the use of trialists.
“Only a couple [of trialists played] as we’re obviously looking for specific positions at the minute, but our job is to identify people who fit into those positions and make sure that over the next few weeks we look at people to put the best product out there for the first game of the season.
“We had a look at a goalkeeper today and we’ve got a few in line to look at who are highly-rated, but we don’t want to rush into anything because we understand it’s a big position for us and we need someone that’s going to come in and have the authority to lead the back-line.
“The lad was someone we may be able to have on loan from a higher club if we wanted. They’ve been kind enough to let us put him into our structure and way of doing things to see if he fits the bill, but in the coming seven days we’ll also be running our eyes closely over a couple [more goalkeepers] who we think can have a real impact here.”
