Mansfield Town could be on their way to being one of the strongest sides in League Two going into next season.

Mansfield have already strengthened with Scunthorpe United veteran Neal Bishop, who joins up with the Stags after four seasons with the Lincolnshire club. Bishop, who has experience of promotion from League Two, will bring some real experience and quality to the Mansfield starting line up.

Defender Matt Preston, who has previously worked under Flitcroft, also joins up with the Stags. In Krystian Pearce and Zander Diamond, Mansfield Town have a very experienced defence. The experience the pair bring to the club could be invaluable next season.

The Nottinghamshire side, who finished 8th last season, are also reportedly closing in on Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker. It is unclear whether the Stags would be bringing the highly rated striker in on a eason-longs loan, or a permanent deal. The striker, who has 33 Championship appearances to his name, would be a major signing for the Field Mill outfit. If Mansfield can get the deal over the line, Flitcroft's side could afford to go into the coming season with cautious optimism.

Walker would link up with another young striker in Danny Rose, who hit 14 league goals in League Two next season. A pacy forward line could be at the forefront of a Mansfield promotion charge.
