QPR are one of the few sides in the Championship with little to play for this season now and so it'll be interesting to see how the players respond.

Certainly, they have been close to both ends of the table at times this year but, eventually, things have evened out and the R's now look set for mid-table and nothing else.

There has been some good signs, though, that the club could challenge for promotion in the future - especially when you consider their home form - and so next season could provide a more exciting campaign.

That said, with a number of players running down on their contracts, there's bound to be a few changes for the club before the new campaign.

Let's take a look at the XI we feel could get them challenging up at the sharp end, then...

Alex Smithies is a top goalkeeper and one the club will want to keep hold of.

Darnell Furlong is a real asset and one many sides would like.

Joel Lynch is a solid centre-half and will surely stay around.

Axel Tuanzebe could be available for another loan next year and would surely jump at the chance for more first team action. £1.8m-rated Nedum Onuoha still hasn't signed a new deal and could be off.

Bidwell should keep his place with Jack Robinson potentially leaving.

Luongo is top class and a player the R's must keep hold of.

An ambitious move for the seemingly out of favour at Forest Bridcutt could be a real boost.

Ross McCormack is a player set for a move in the summer and might just prove a master-stroke - if the R's can work it out financially.

The R's best player? It's hard to argue for anyone else but Freeman.

Eberechi Eze looks a bright spark and should only be better next year.

Matt Smith is a good option but it remains to be seen if Holloway truly fancies him. For now, though, he should stay in the team.
