Manchester United are preparing an opening bid of £25 million for Fulham’s teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon, according to reports in The Guardian.

The 17-year-old has been sensational since breaking into the first-team at Craven Cottage last season, scoring five goals and laying on three assists in his debut campaign.

Sessegnon has continued his fine for this term despite his side’s struggles on the field, and is already close to emulating both tallies at the halfway stage of the season.

Highly regarded as one of the most exciting talents in English football, United appear to be in pole position to secure the youngster’s signature, with Tottenham also said to harbour an interest in the England U19 international.

The Guardian reports that United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to offload Luke Shaw in the new year, with Sessegnon his preferred target to replace the out-of-form full-back.

The Verdict

Sessegnon is undoubtedly one of the most exciting talents in European football, and is touted as a future England star at this early stage of his career.

The London-born star could achieve all his dreams at Old Trafford, yet many will be wary of a switch to the northwest, with a teenage Shaw also heading to Manchester from the south but seeing his career stall.

Fulham will hold out for as big a fee as possible, but a £25 million offer will surely be considered by the Fulham board and boss Slavisa Jokanovic, who could work wonders with such a large sum.
