Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly registered their interest in signing Manchester United youngster James Garner according to The Sun.

The report also claims that Swansea City are interested in a loan deal for the midfielder, although it remains to be seen as to which club is leading the race to land his signature.

Garner has made eight senior appearances for Manchester United this season, with the majority of those coming in their Europa League campaign this term.

Given the considerable amount of competition in Ole Gunnar Solskjær's squad at this moment in time, it seems as though the United boss is willing to send some of the club's younger players out on loan heading towards next season.

Sheffield Wednesday have been struggling in this year's league campaign since the turn of the New Year, with Garry Monk's side currently sat 15th in the Championship table.

The Owls have only won once in their last ten matches, and it isn't a surprise to hear the club's supporters voicing their frustrations over their dismal run of results.

Swansea are in a much better position, with Steve Cooper's side sat 11th in the second tier standings, and just three points adrift of the play-off places with nine matches remaining this season.

However, due to recent off-the-field events, that push for a top-six finish has been put on hold for the time being, with no scheduled return date put in place as of yet.

The Verdict:

He'll be keen to prove a point in senior football.

Garner has looked bright for Manchester United's first team this season, and I think he deserves a consistent run at senior level in the near future.

At the age of 19, he's still got plenty of room to develop, and a move to either Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City would present him with that opportunity.

I think he'd be an excellent addition to both sides heading into the summer transfer window.
