Swansea City have entered the race to sign Manchester United midfielder James Garner according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Red Devils are keen to send the youngster out on loan for the 2020/21 season, as they look to find him regular game time in senior football.

Regular first-team opportunities are likely to be hard to come by for Garner with Manchester United, as Ole Gunnar Solskjær looks to build on some impressive performances last term in the Premier League.

Garner made six appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils last season, with the majority of his outings coming in their Europa League campaign.

It has previously been reported that the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry City and Huddersfield Town are all interested in signing the midfielder on loan for this season, although an agreement is yet to be reached with Manchester United.

It is now claimed that Coventry City and Huddersfield have seen moves for the 19-year-old fall through, which could give Swansea a chance of landing his signature.

A move to Swansea could be tempting for Garner though, with the Swans likely to be challenging for promotion into the Premier League once again this term.

Steve Cooper's side finished sixth in the Championship table last season, and were beaten by Brentford over two legs in their play-off semi-final.

Swansea have also shown that they're willing to give young Premier League players much-needed game time, with Conor Gallagher and Rhian Brewster being just some of the names that featured last term for the Swans.

Swansea are set to take on Birmingham City this weekend, as they look to make it back-to-back wins in the Championship, after an impressive win over Preston North End in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 season.

The Verdict:

They'll surely fancy their chances of landing his signature.

Swansea have an impressive record when it comes to giving Premier League youngsters a chance in their team, and I think Garner could thrive in this side.

Steve Cooper has really impressed me since coming in as their new manager, and I think he'd be able to get the best out of Garner in the 2020/21 season.

If he can impress out on loan this term, then we could see him challenging for a spot in the Manchester United squad on a regular basis next season.
