Leeds United lost out in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs last night as Derby County put in a fine performance to win the tie on aggregate 4-3.

The Rams were excellent and the Whites saw a number of players fall short of what was needed, at the worst possible time of the season.

A breathtaking game nonetheless, though, and Derby will be looking forward to the final.

Leeds, meanwhile, face another season in the Championship and the chance to renew hostilities with some of the biggest sides in the country will have to wait.

Their rivalry with Manchester United, of course, needs no introduction and Gary Neville took the chance to offer up a bit of banter in conversation - albeit a brief one - with a fan on Twitter.

The Verdict

Neville enjoyed great success with Manchester United, of course, and played in some ferocious games with Leeds at the turn of the century.

As a player, he was never shy to represent the Red Devils with his heart on his sleeve but as a pundit he has offered a more balanced take on situations, earning the respect of many.

He's still got that United streak in him, though, and this is a cheeky nod to that.
