Manchester United are the latest team to be linked with MK Dons starlet Dele Alli, according to The People newspaper.
The Red Devils look set to hijack Liverpool’s deal for the youngster who scored six goals in 33 games last season for the Dons.
Alli has been dubbed the new Steven Gerrard and a reported deal of around £4.5 million has been lined up by Louis van Gaal and Manchester United.
However, United’s Premier League rivals Liverpool have been monitoring the England under 18 international for some time now, with other top clubs Chelsea and Arsenal also keen on the midfielder.
Brenden Rodgers’ side had been close to completing a deal for Alli, but that seems to be in the balance now after new interest from the Red Devils.
Having made his Dons debut aged 16; Alli has already played 44 games in all competitions, grabbing eight goals.
This would be Manchester United’s new manager van Gaal’s third new signing after completing big money moves for Southampton left back Luke Shaw and Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera this week.
