Premier League giants Manchester United are in the race to sign Charlton Athletic starlet Joe Gomez, however Arsenal are currently leading the way to sign him, according to the Mirror.
The 17-year-old centre back is in his debut season at the Valley and Charlton are currently interested in selling, with an £8 million price tag slapped on his head.
The Mirror understand that Arsenal are in pole position to sign the England under-19 international because of the good relationship they have with the Addicks, who loaned out Francis Coquelin last year.
Gomez has impressed fans with his maturity this year, despite only being 17. He is a diverse defender and, although prominently a centre back, can also be deployed at right back.
Manchester City are also in the running for the defender, and are very keen on expanding the young English talent at their club, whilst United manager Louis Van Gaal seemingly wants more young starlets at the club.
Charlton are currently 10th in the Sky Bet Championship and have amassed 60 points this season.
