Manchester United have been handed a boost in the race for Bournemouth winger David Brooks, according to the Daily Mail.

The 23-year-old is one of the most wanted youngsters outside the Premier League, and it appears as though the race for the Welshman is hotting up.

Daily Mail have reported that there has been no official contact for the midfielder but Bournemouth would be open to selling should the right offer come in.

With Brooks being an option for the Red Devils it is not yet known whether that is as a backup option to Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho, or whether they'll pursue both wingers.

The Cherries are preparing for a season in the Championship and have already sold star centre-back Nathan Ake to Manchester City for over £40 million.

If Brooks is to leave, then there will certainly be a large sum for Jason Tindall to use in the transfer market in order to give his side the best chance of promotion.

The Verdict

Brooks would be a good signing for Manchester United but whether or not he's at the level that the Red Devils require right now is another story.

In terms of the future, he certainly has the potential and having already played international football, he knows what sorts of pressures there are in big events.

Bournemouth could well get a hefty sum from the Red Devils, and if they are to sell him, this would probably be the best time to do it before people forget what Brooks played like in the Premier League.
