Manchester United are favourites to complete the signing of Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin, according to the Daily Star.
Austin has been widely expected to leave the Championship club this summer and odds have tumbled on him making a £15 million move to Old Trafford, as Betfair now have him at 1/3 to join the Reds.
Louis Van Gaal has added plenty of quality to his squad during this transfer window, bringing in the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin.
However, they are still searching for strikers following the sale of Robin van Persie to Turkish side Fenerbahce and Radamel Falcao’s loan spell from Monaco coming to an end.
Austin could be the man to provide support for Wayne Rooney following his 18 goals for Rangers in the Premier League last season.
This form earned him an England call-up and, with Euro 2016 coming up at the end of the season, a move to United would give him the perfect opportunity to stake his claim for a place in the squad.
