Premier League giants Manchester United are said to be casting an eager eye towards the performances of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to Shoot.
The Sunderland stopper is currently out on loan with Championship newcomers Preston North End and United have been alerted following a series of top class performances.
Pickford has developed as a stopper over the past few years during loan spells away from the Stadium of Light with Burton Albion, Carlisle United and last season Bradford City.
His performances haven’t escaped England Under-21 manager either and in August he was handed his first start between the posts for the team against the United States.
The 21-year-old is rapidly turning into one of the brightest young goalkeeping prospects in the country, and United boss Louis van Gaal could be set to make a move having told Victor Valdes and former Preston loan star Sam Johnstone, that they are free to depart Old Trafford.
Simon Grayson’s Preston North End currently sit in 22nd position in the Sky Bet Championship, having won once, drawn three times and lost four times.
