Swansea City winger Daniel James is closing in on a move to Manchester United after passing his medical with the Premier League giants.

The Wales international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for weeks now but it appears to have taken a big step forward with the Daily Mail confirming he has passed a medical.

That means he is set to become the Red Devils first summer signing ahead of what will be a very busy summer for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he looks to transform his squad.

James has enjoyed a real breakthrough season after been given a chance by Graham Potter with the Swans in the past 12 months.

He scored four goals for the Welsh side and provided seven assists in 33 league games and impressed with his electric pace and ability beat players.

The deal for the 21-year-old is believed to be in the region of £17m and it will be the second significant departure the Swans have to deal with after former boss Potter left for Brighton.

The Verdict

This is a fantastic move for James and he will be delighted to have passed a medical as it's now one step closer.

He thoroughly deserves a chance in the Premier League after a brilliant season for Swansea and he will back himself to force his way into the team at United next season.

As for Swansea, the big fee will be welcome although fans will be frustrated at the exit of the exciting winger.
