Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes he has secured his first two signings of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Swansea winger Daniel James and Stoke defender Nathan Collins are both targets for the Old Trafford side, and it appears as though deals for both players are close to completion.

According to Football Insider, Solskjaer is "convinced" that deals for the pair have been secured, and United are expected to confirm the signings of both players in the coming days.

Collins has made just three senior appearances for Stoke, but it already seems the 18-year-old is destined for a move to Old Trafford, with the same outlet/a> claiming United have made a £7million bid for the defender.

James meanwhile has enjoyed a more eye catching debut season in senior football at Swansea, scoring 6 goals and registering eight assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the Welsh side.

The Daily Mail had recently reported that United have agreed a £15million fee with Swansea for the sale of the 21-year-old winger who is a Wales international.

The Verdict

Given United's financial strength and the prospects joining the club offer, the news that both Collins and James are set to join the Red Devils will come as no surprise to fans of Stoke and Swansea respectively, even if it will still be a disappointment.

The best thing for both sides to do now is to take the money and look to reinvest it elsewhere, with James in particular someone who needs replacing at Swansea.

For United meanwhile, this could be a piece of much needed good news following what was a hugely disappointing end to the season. as they have two bright prospects to add to their squad.
