Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are locked in a two-way battle to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to the Daily Star.
The youngster is currently on loan at Sky Bet Championship club Preston North End and has made seven appearances for the club so far during the 2015/16 campaign.
The 21-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut at the Stadium of Light and has been moved out on loan no fewer than six times during the early years of his professional career.
The Premier League duo look set to try and lure the player away from Sunderland in the summer although it is thought that the Black Cats would like to keep their highly-rated stopper.
Pickford has played for England youth level from Under-16’s through to Under-21’s and looks set for a bright future at the very top of English football.
It would be interesting to see just how much football Pickford would play should a move to the Premier League come to fruition and it seems that playing regular Championship football is what is best for his development at present.
Preston fans… How is Pickford getting on at Deepdale? Is the youngster destined for the top-flight? Could he play for Sunderland now? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
