The up-and-coming talent was linked with a move to Leeds last month and now, FLW understands, he is set to join up with the Elland Road club on loan for the season.

Barker, who is still only at the tender age of 18, has gained plaudits from all over the UK with his performances at youth level.

Awarded with the club's Academy Player of the Year award in 2013, Barker has since shone on the wings for City's development squad and has gained praise from academy coach Patrick Viera, who praised his form in the UEFA Youth League where he scored an impressive four goals and made four assists in only six matches.

The wonderkid has starred for the City youth team since his transition into his new role as a left winger and is known for his trickery and pace. Although right footed, Barker prefers to play on the left so that he is able to cut inside on his right and create better chances for his teammates.

With Leeds in need of a left midfielder to allow Charlie Taylor to return to his more natural left back role, Barker is seen as the perfect player to complete Leeds' left hand side and could be a valuable asset in the coming season.
