According to The Times via talkSPORT, Premier League giants Manchester City have signed teenager Finley Burns from Southend.
City have forked out a record amount for a 13-year-old.
The reported fee is an initial £175,000 which could rise to £250,000 in bonuses.
Under the terms of the Elite Player Performance Plan, Manchester City were only required to pay £25,000 but they have paid £150,000 more than that to land their man ahead of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Liverpool are understood to have made an approach for Burns but Southend could not ignore the pay packet that Manchester City were offering.
Finley Burns has been playing and impressing for the Shrimpers’ under-16 side, despite his young age.
It is believed that Burns and his family have already moved to Manchester, where he will start training with the Citizens’ youth sides and Manchester City believe they have captured a real gem for the future.
