Premier League giants Manchester City are targeting Ipswich Town’s 15-year-old wonderkid Ben Knight, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Having monitored Ben Knight’s fast-tracked progression through Ipswich Town’s academy for a number of months, Manchester City are leading the pack in the hope of securing Knight’s signature as early as the January transfer window.

As one of the brightest prospects in not only the Championship but the English Football League, Knight is quickly becoming one of the most highly coveted young players outside of the Premier League.

The technically gifted number 10 has already received international recognition for the England Under-15 side, and has now attracted the attention of Manchester City.

Manchester City have shown that they have a clear transfer strategy of picking up young bright English talents from the Championship and the lower leagues, in an attempt to bolster their own academy for the future.

Ben Knight could potentially become the next arrival at the Etihad as Manchester City hone their sights on signing the bright young talent, before more Premier League sides contest them for his signature.

Ipswich Town fans, how do you feel about the news? Should Ipswich Town look to keep hold of Ben Knight for the future? Would a move possibly hinder his development? How talented is Ben Knight in your opinion? Could it be a mistake to let Knight leave or is it inevitable? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
