According to the Yorkshire Evening Postâs Phil Hay, Leeds United are looking to sign head-coach, Garry Monk, on a long-term contract, following Andrea Radrizzaniâs takeover.
Radrizzani completed a 100% takeover of Leeds yesterday afternoon, buying the remaining 50% of the West Yorkshire outfit from his compatriot Massimo Cellino.
One thing that will be high on Leeds and Radrizzaniâs agenda will be the long-term future of Monk, who has done exceptionally well at Elland Road during the last 12-months.
Leeds have reportedly activated a 12-month extension on Monkâs deal, keeping him with the club until at least the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
However, both Leeds and Monk want a long-term contract agreed following Radrizzaniâs takeover, with reports suggesting the 12-month extension is there to prevent the 38-year old becoming a free agent.
Monk guided Leeds to a seventh-placed finish in the Sky Bet Championship last season, and has attracted interest from several clubs including Norwich City and Middlesbrough.
