Steve Evans has provided an update regarding Jack Marriott with the striker's future remaining up in the air at the moment.

The forward hit over 30 goals last season in all competitions for the Posh and thanks to that attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs.

Indeed, one of the keenest appear to be Derby County with them having bids rejected for the player so far.

The Rams, under Frank Lampard, are looking to add some fresh ideas to their attacking options at the moment and Marriott would obviously provide something new.

It seems, though, that he is no closer to leaving London Road, however, with Steve Evans planning as though the striker will be staying put.

As quoted by the Peterborough Telegraph - via Derbyshire Live - Evans said of Marriott and fellow attacker Marcus Maddison:

“The chairman has told me to plan for Jack and Marcus to be available until he tells me otherwise.”

The Verdict

Derby appear no nearer to getting Marriott in at the moment, then, and as things stand the striker will remain a Posh forward for the coming campaign.

He's clearly a man in demand but Peterborough won't let him go on the cheap and until the Rams or another side put together an offer they deem acceptable you can't see much progress being made.
