Manager speaks of desire to seal fresh Nottingham Forest agreement

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has admitted that they would like to keep Nottingham Forest winger Gboly Ariyibi at the club beyond this season, via reports from the Motherwell Times.

The wide-man signed for Forest from Chesterfield in 2017, after a hugely impressive three-year stay at the Proact Stadium.

But the 24-year-old has since failed to set the world alight during his time at the City Ground, failing to make a single first-team appearance for the East Midlands side.

The American has endured a couple of turbulent loan spells away from Forest, but has come to life in his most recent spell with SPFL side Motherwell.

The winger has scored two goals and produced one assist during his time at Fir Park, with manager Stephen Robinson now insisting that he would like to keep Ariyibi at the club beyond this season.

He said: “He’s a talented boy. We’re hopeful to get him back again next year and progressing his career.”

Forest manager Martin O’Neill will undoubtedly be looking to rebuild his squad in the summer, after missing out on the play-offs this time around.

The Reds currently sit 10th in the Sky Bet Championship table, ahead of the final game of the campaign.

The Verdict

It seems almost inevitable that Ariyibi will depart the City Ground in the summer, and it would surely be the best move for both parties if he were to leave.

He arrived at Forest with high expectations placed upon him, but has failed to deliver since.

Perhaps a permanent move to Motherwell would be the best option for him, as he is clearly settled over in Scotland and is enjoying his football.
