Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Joe Worrall is set to complete a season-long loan move to Ibrox.

After Rangers progressed in the Europa League with an aggregate victory over FC Ufa, Gerrard confirmed that the club were set to imminently finalise a loan move for Nottingham Forest centre-back Worrall, The Scotsman reports.

Worrall is set to end a long search for a new centre-half and he will join alongside the £2m capture of Eros Grezda, an Albanian international playing for Osijek.

Nottingham Forest are willing to let the England under-21 international, who has captained the Three Lions at youth level, leave on loan with the likes of Michael Hefele, Tobias Figueiredo, Michael Dawson and Danny Fox preferred to him in central defence.

The 21-year-old has played over 50 senior games for Nottingham Forest but is yet to play a single game this season.

The Verdict

Worrall still has a bright future, despite making some mistakes before.

He is still young and learning this trade and he has all the ingredients to become a success at Rangers before returning to The City Ground a new player.

With leadership, strength and full-blooded commitment, it would be too early to let Worrall leave permanently.
