Alvaro Fernandez deal on the cusp

As reported by The AthleticPreston are closing in on the signing of Manchester United left-back, Alvaro Fernandez.

Fernandez was present at Preston’s pre-season friendly with Leicester City last weekend, and has reportedly turned down Bundesliga interest to join the Championship side.

Troy Parrott has arrived at Deepdale already on loan from Tottenham.

After striking 10 goals last season whilst on loan with MK Dons, Parrott has now set his sights on achieving similar numbers in a Preston shirt.

“It was the first season I got double figures in goals, and I need to continue that and keep going,” he explained to Preston’s official website.

“I’ve been a striker growing up. I’ve played left, I’ve played ten, I’ve played right and I’ve played striker, and I don’t mind where I play once I’m in the team to be fair.

“But I’ve been a striker and hopefully I can get as many games there as possible this season.”

There’s a thirst amongst the Preston fans to see Callum Robinson return to the club from West Bromwich Albion, where he appears to be falling down the pecking order.

A fresh update has emerged from the reliable Alan Nixon on Twitter, as he suggested that whilst Preston would be open to a loan, West Brom are in favour of a permanent parting of ways with the Irish international.

It seems, then, that the two clubs are not on the same page when it comes to an agreement.
