A number of Birmingham City supporters have been suggesting that defender Kristian Pedersen played a crucial role in the Blues’ vital 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The Blues were in need of a win to lift themselves out of the bottom three after a run of just one win in 13 matches in the Championship. Aitor Karanka was also needing to show that he can manage to get his side picking up points to relieve some of the questions marks surrounding his potential future at St Andrews.

Pedersen was one of the Blues’ most influential performers in what was at times a cagey and nervy match, with the left-back reminding people of his quality after what has been a difficult season for him times.

The 26-year-old battled very well all game and made a number of crucial interventions at vital times in the game to prevent Sheffield Wednesday from creating a few chances.

The left-back managed to make ten clearances, two tackles, one interception and also won six duels throughout the game (Sofascore). That shows he was influential in helping the Blues record a much-needed clean sheet to edge out their fellow strugglers and lift themselves back out of the bottom-three.

Many Birmingham supporters were keen to suggest that this was one of his best games for a while, with some believing he was the Man of the Match for the Blues against Sheffield Wednesday.
