Manchester City winger Brandon Barker is one of four players that Hull City are trying to capture, according to The Yorkshire Post.

Hull also want Brighton and Hove Albion duo Oliver Norwood and Jiri Skalak, as well as Scunthorpe United left-back Conor Townsend as Nigel Adkins aims to step up his summer transfer business.

The Tigers are preparing to launch fresh bids for Norwood and Skalak as they aim to improve their current squad options.

Norwood has been linked with a return to Fulham in a £1.5m deal but favours a switch to Hull, where he believes he would get more first-team chances.

Winger Skalak, 26, only played three games last season and did not feature in the Premier League despite playing a key role in Brighton's promotion.

Left-back Townsend started his career with Hull but has carved a name for himself down the road at Scunthorpe.

West Brom and Ipswich will provide competition for the 25-year-old.

Barker is another target after loan spells with Rotherham United, NAC Breda and Hibernian.

The 21-year-old wide man, capped by England at under-20 level, has only played one senior game for Man City and could be sold this summer.

The Verdict

Barker would be an excellent capture as he is a promising youngster who can improve while at Hull.

Norwood would replace Larsson nicely with his ball-playing ability in midfield and Skalak would provide decent depth if they could get the Czech Republic international at the right price.

Meanwhile, Townsend would be a decent replacement for Vitesse Arnhem bound Max Clark at left-back.
